'Why do Babies Cry?'

Why do babies cry?

Understand more about communication from babies and how childrens emotions work.  Based on the ideas of Aware Parenting, this workshop examines the reason why babies cry, your own perceptions and how to respond to your crying baby.   It describes the benefits and techniques of "In arms" crying and a step by step approach to helping babies grow in emotional intelligence.

We discuss the attachment needs of babies, which are best met by close physical contact, breast-feeding, and prompt responsiveness to crying. At the core of  the Aware Parenting philosophy is the concept of crying as tension release, with the emphasis that babies should always be held when they cry.

What is Aware Parenting?
Aware Parenting is attachment-style parenting, emphasising a non-punitive discipline style. It recognises that stress and trauma can be prevented and healed in the context of a loving parent/child relationship.

'Thank you so much for helping us yesterday.  It was a very needed release for both of us.  We went home and did some more in-arms crying followed by sleeping and crying and finishing with a really lovely sleep last night (he woke only once for a feed).  The concepts you were explaining to me make so much more sense than the colic and reflux explanations everyone else has been so quick to give me. I would never have had the confidence to let him cry in my arms like that without your encouragement and support.'  Linda, mummy and me yoga student.
