When it comes to sleep....

Many parents-to-be are unprepared for the degree to which having a baby will change their lives. To be more accurate, they are led to have unrealistic expectations and this is compounded by advice that has good intentions but is not backed by evidence.

When it comes to sleep, parents may expect that they’ll be able to put their sleepy baby in their cots, and get on with what they want to do while baby sleeps. Not only is this an appealing thought because people want to retain their evening routine after the kids are in bed, but because they believe it is in their baby’s best interest to self-soothe without them.

All babies are different, and some will require less parent involvement to sleep, while some will need more.
