We are constantly inspired by the honesty and courage our prenatal yoga students bring to each class. Each week, stories are shared about the big, emotional decisions being made — whether it’s weighing up an induction, accepting a planned caesarean for a breech baby, or preparing for a VBAC.
What do all these situations have in common?
They each offer a beautiful opportunity for the birthing person to feel empowered — to know they have a voice and an active role in shaping their experience.
Research consistently shows that when someone feels involved in their birth decisions, they’re more likely to view their experience positively — regardless of how it unfolds. It’s not about achieving a “perfect” birth; it’s about feeling supported, respected, and part of the process.
At yogababy, we believe empowerment begins long before labour. It starts with knowledge, confidence, and connection — and it grows through practical tools that help you feel calm and capable in your body.
These include Active Birth skills such as:
Breathing — to help you stay relaxed, focused, and connected with your baby.
Massage — to release tension, promote oxytocin, and bring comfort during contractions.
Active Birthing Positions — to work with gravity, support the baby’s descent, and ease labour sensations.
And if you’re looking for a more purposeful preparation, our Active Birth Workshops are designed especially for you and your partner. These workshops, held in Brisbane from around the 24‑week mark onwards, bring together friendly, interactive learning of tools like breathing, optimal positioning, movement and partner support in a hands‑on format.
