Why Prenatal Yoga is for Every Birth
Many people picture yoga as poses on a mat—cat–cow, downward dog, deep stretches. But prenatal yoga goes far beyond the physical.
One of my students reminded me of this in such a beautiful way. She knew she was having a cesarean and wondered if the pregnancy yoga classes would still be useful. After birth, she told me that while she wasn’t practicing yoga postures she was using the breathing and relaxation techniques we had explored in class—breathing, grounding, and calming her mind.
She laughed as she said:
“I definitely wasn’t doing cat–cow! But I was using everything else.”
Her story highlights the heart of prenatal yoga: it’s for everyone, no matter your birth path. These classes prepare you physically, yes—but also emotionally and mentally. They teach you how to steady your breath, settle your nervous system, and find calm when things feel uncertain.
Whether you birth vaginally, by cesarean, naturally, or with interventions, the practices of yoga are always there to support you.
Yogababy pregnancy yoga isn’t about how you give birth—it’s about how you feel as you move through it.
